I will never forget how Gwyneth Paltrow rocked this ultra sexy black lace micro mini dress from Balmain last year at the UK premiere of Iron Man which she wore with a black tuxedo jacket and matching black satin Alexander McQueen sky-high square toe pumps. Gwyneth’s look was perfection and probably one of her greatest looks to date if not the best.
Nina Morić, a Croatian model, opted for the same Balmain number when she attended the 2009 Campari Calendar Launch on December 2, 2008 in Milan. I know the dress is supposed to be a micro mini, but Nina’s dress appeared to be even shorter than Gwyneth’s or the runway version making her look slightly hooker-ish. The fact that she added black fingerless biker gloves à la Karl didn’t help either.
We all may envy both women for their incredibly long and fit legs which indeed deserve to be showed off. However, Nina totally failed to make this LBD work for her. Even though it’s the same dress, both looks are worlds apart in terms of class and attitude. Nina doesn’t even come close. No competition for Gwyneth at all. Do you agree?

Hervé Léger is a celebrity’s best friend. The body con bandage dresses seem to be especially popular with women who embrace their curves like Beyoncé or Kim Kardashian. However, there has been a massive overdisplay of Hervé Léger on the red carpet last year and now I kind of get bored by seeing celebrities in HL.
One of the few Hervé Léger dresses that still use to excite me nowadays is this purple striped sequin dress. And as you can see, Hollywood likes this dress as well.
Beyoncé Knowles was the one to rock it first back in December 2008 when she performed at the French version of Star Academy.
A few months later T.I.’s girlfriend Tameka Cottle alias “Tiny” sported the same Hervé Léger sequin dress at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Bethenny Frankel opted for the same dress at the “The Real Housewives of New York City” season 2 premiere party 3 days later.
Teairra Mari was the last to wear the sequinned dress at the 10th Annual Children Uniting Nations Academy Awards Gala.
The first was the best, Beyoncé’s got the body to pull off this dress and she’s the only one who doesn’t cheapen it.

A few days ago Becki Newton attended The Metropolitan Opera’s 125th Anniversary Gala where she made me fall in love with her beautiful emerald green sequin dress from Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 2009 collection. Becki looked fantastic in the strapless dress which she accessorized with a black clutch and a pair of gorgeous silver YSL cage heels (♥). Love, Love, Love.
