At first I was a little disappointed with Laura and Kate Mulleavy’s Spring 2010 collection for Rodarte because the first shown pieces were way too messy and grungy for my liking and I couldn’t shake the thought of picturing homeless people in these clothes – an association I really wasn’t feeling good with.
But halfway through the show, the interesting pieces started to pour in and I was astounded at how much I’ve gone through love and hate with the whole collection. My personal favorites were the black pieces which were shown in the last third of the show. Typical Rodarte with a new twist! The collection’s leitmotif was “scarred and still beautiful” and I think this pretty much sums it up. The Rodarte sisters have once more done a great job – at least for half of the collection. Perfection! Kate Bosworth hosted a private dinner party for the Rodarte sisters, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, which took place at Harvey Nichols in London yesterday. The actress looked breathtakingly beautiful in a nude creation from the Spring 2009 collection. The dress had a pleated leather skirt, a sheer knit bodice and separate sleeves. Her soft makeup and the matching accessories were the icing on the cake.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Kate and the Rodarte girls. Seeing them together so perfectly combined makes me swoon!

Emma Watson was just as stunning in her own Rodarte number which was a black and blue draped dress also the Spring 2009 collection. I just wished she would’ve worn the kickass Nicholas Kirkwood runway heels as I think they would’ve worked better than her two-tone Chanel Spring 2009 Couture platforms.

The age-defying Iman attended the gala in a modified champagne-colored strapless Donna Karan Resort 2009 dress putting ALL her younger colleagues to shame. She truly is a muse. To me and to all the other women hoping to look just half as good as she does when we hit her age. Iman got the best genes EVER!

Claudia Schiffer was the hottest supermodel on the red carpet last night. Claudia wore a black semi-sheer Atelier Versace Spring 2009 origami-folded dress and looked fantastic in it. I kind of never understood why she was so hyped as a supermodel, but seeing her in that Versace dress now I definitely can.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Miranda Kerr looked amazing in her uber-sexy black fringed Jil Sander dress and I think she was one of the best models in attendance even though she is not a high fashion model like a lot of the other models who were there, but that fills my heart with even more joy because Miranda seems like such a nice person and I think she totally deserved the attention.

Jessica Stam went for a short Rodarte Fall 2009 metallic mini dress and I loved it! Her dress has been modified from the runway version and instead of the thigh-high leather boots, Jessica opted for matching metallic sandals.

Dasha Zhukova, one of the founders of Kova & T and new Editor-in-Chief of Pop, attended the Exhibition Fetish by David Lynch & Christian Louboutin looking outstanding in a white and lilac Rodarte Spring 2009 dress. Dasha completed her look with a black cropped leather jacket, a printed large clutch and fancy silver Louboutin pumps.
I love Rodarte, especially their Spring 2009 collection, and always get excited when I see their designs on the red carpet. Dasha is beautiful and pulls it off with ease. Kudos to her; looking good AND confident in Rodarte is not that easy (Keira Knightley and Tilda Swinton are some of the very few who can make Rodarte’s exceptional designs work off the runway). Love it!
