Love at First Sight - Giambattista Valli “Victoria” Platform Heels

Yup, I’m officially in shoe heaven. If I were to own a pair of these awesome Giambattista Valli platforms most likely I wouldn’t be able to walk in them, but who cares as long as they look so A-M-A-Z-I-N-G on your feet, right?

Giambattista Valli - Spring 2008 Footwear

Giambattista Valli Victoria Platforms - Spring 2008 Collection

The first time I saw these darlings they have been strutted down the runway of Giambattista Valli’s Spring 2008 fashion show where they took my heart by surprise. They instantly rocketed to the top of my wishlist, but unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough to grab a pair for myself since women across the world have been trying to get their hands on the “Victoria“-shoe which was named after former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham because she was the first to wear these lovely heels in a photoshoot for fashion magazine ELLE.

The year went by and the GV platforms with the killer 6″ heel faded as I was starting to have new shoe obsessions with the likes of Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen or Brian Atwood. Until yesterday when they accidentally crossed my eye again. And they returned with a BANG!

Celebrities & Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli "Victoria" Platform Heels as worn by many celebrities

As you can see, I’m not the only one lusting after this dramatic footwear. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Jessica Biel, Mary-Kate Olsen, Victoria Beckham and Nicole Scherzinger have been seen sporting the GV “Victoria” platforms to several events. My personal favorites are Jessica Biel’s fire red pair and MK’s white ones with the hot pink platform and heel. Gorgeous, aren’t they? Which ones do you like best?

Designer Inspiration - Giambattista Valli vs. Forever 21

Giambattista Valli vs. Forever 21 - Platform Heels

There is no such thing as an iconic shoe if it doesn’t get at least copied once by the mainstream shoe industry. And this is exactly what happened when Forever 21 launched their “Vero Neon Platform“-shoes. No question about them being blatant copies available in either black/pink or black/lime for as much as $22.80. But since I couldn’t get a pair of the Giambattistas I really start thinking about purchasing the copycats just for the fun of it. They probably won’t last long or spend any comfort (I think the architecture of the shoe makes it impossible even if the shoe was $600), but that’s not what I expect from a shoe that’s $20. Of course there are always exceptions. And since I’ve never bought footwear from Forever 21 before I guess I just might give it a go and find out myself.

Would you buy the GV knock-offs from Forever 21?

Red Carpet Watch - Rihanna ♥ Hervé Léger

Rihanna - Hervé Léger Bandage Dresses

If you couldn’t tell by now, Rihanna is what you call a dedicated Hervé Léger fan addict.

December 04, 2006 - 2006 Billboard LG After Party

Her love for the curve hugging bandage-type dresses began when she stunned everyone in a strapless metallic grey micro mini at the 2006 Billboard LG After Party back in December 2006. Ever since Rihanna decided to regularly come back to wearing the ultra sexy dresses on the red carpet.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

February 10, 2007 - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party

Two months later, Rihanna found it was time again for a new Hervé Léger getup and went with a cleavage heavy pale pink mini dress to hit the red carpet of Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party in February 2007.

June 08, 2007 - Venus Breeze “Celebrity Legs of a Goddess” Presentation

Rihanna revived her love for body con dresses when she was chosen to have “celebrity legs of a goddess” in June 2007. The electric blue body-hugging skirt Rihanna wore at the event perfectly complimented her feminine silhouette.

June 27, 2007 - BET Awards 2007

The 2007 BET Awards came and so did Rihanna - dressed up in a white vintage Hervé Léger frock which is my personal favorite yet. She was a pleasure to look at and totally rocked the red carpet being clearly the best dressed at the show.

June 27, 2007 - Jermaine Dupri’s BET Awards After Party

Rihanna was still in HL mood when she later changed into a black halter dress for Jermaine Dupri’s BET Awards After Party. To make her outfit edgier, Rihanna paired her black ensemble with a pair of neon yellow pointy pumps.

Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008 - Celebrity Red Carpet Fashion

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Songstress Alicia Keys not only sported a nice summery strapless floor-length gown, but also some very unflattering deodorant stains under her arms. I can’t believe this could happen to a celebrity? Didn’t she check a mirror before starting to walk the red carpet? Must’ve been an embarassing moment for the soul diva when she found out about the stains.

Ashanti

Ashanti - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Ashanti often doesn’t seem to get it right when it comes to dressing appropriate for red carpet occasions, so imagine my delight when I saw her wearing this amazing pink belted black satin dress.

This is the perfect kind of dress for Ashanti & it works wonders on her. She couldn’t have done any better. Thumbs up for wearing the pink highlights on all the right places (belt, lips, shoes and jewelry). Gorgeous.

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Ashlee Simpson arrived at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party with new red hair and a somewhat tiring knitted gold turtle neck dress. She teamed the dress with nude pumps and a fire-red clutch.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood was rocking the monochrome trend in this stunning Marchesa dress.

♥ Loving the hair, the earrings & the shoes ♥

Dita von Teese

Dita von Teese in Christian Dior Spring 2008 - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Dita von Teese was the epitome of glamour in a white embellished ensemble from the collection. Stunning indeed and a little bit over the top for this kind of event, but that’s Dita. Never been a fan of understatement.

Dita finished off her look with matching white pumps. Her red lips and the black retro curls perfectly contrast with her white outfit.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Wild child Lindsay Lohan showed off her new darker do in a flirty turquoise one-shoulder bubble dress and gold peep-toes. The dress itself is a bit on the boring side, but the color is stunning on LiLo, especially with the dark brown hair.

Lindsay should pay more attention to what metallics she wears with her outfit next time. She chose to wear gold peep-toe shoes, but at the same time accessorized her dress with silver jewelry. I’m not a fan of mixing metals. A total No-Go for me.

Don’t even get me started on the spray tan…

Rihanna - Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party 2008

Rihanna is known for taking fashion risks. Unfortunately for her, this printed floor-length gown did not pay off. I hope she does better with her Grammys dress.
