Back in September last year, Keira Knightley arrived at the world premiere of The Duchess in London wearing a blue Alexis Mabille Fall 2008 Couture strapless dress which had bow front pockets and tulle peeking out of the hem and décolleté. Keira completed her romantic look with black patent Moschino square-toe pumps and her famous pout.
Dita von Teese opted to wear the same Alexis Mabille dress when she attended the DSQUARED² Grand Opening Party in Cannes a few days ago. As usual, Dita was picture perfect and her red lips and nails really popped against the blue hue of the dress. Black patent Louboutins completed Dita’s chic ensemble.
First off, I want to make clear that both women look fantastic in this dress. And even though I want to give this one to Keira so badly, I just can’t. Yes, she’s one of my favorite actresses and yes, I absolutely adore her, but her chunky Moschino pumps just didn’t do it for me because they look so wrong with such a romantic dress. Dita however glows and the Louboutin heels were the perfect shoe choice for this dress. Again, Keira, I loooove you, but I must give this one to Dita in terms of fashion. What about you? I know it’s been really quiet here lately. We’ve been doing a lot of offline stuff, but we never forgot about our fashion blog baby, so this post will be the birth of a new category here on Profashionelle: the Red Carpet Gold Star. An award given to those who managed to stand out on the red carpet, making us remember their dresses & appearances even after years.
Such is what British actress Keira Knightley managed to do when she stunned everyone in a beautiful white sleek column Valentino dress and a pair of amazing vintage Cartier earrings to the 63rd Golden Globe Awards in 2006. And frankly, isn’t this dress one of the most beautiful dresses you’ve ever seen? I happen to think so and love everything about it (shape, color and the gorgeous flower-shaped belt, of course).
This dress is one of my favourite red carpet pieces of all time. But it’s not just the dress that’s close to heavenly perfection – it’s Keira wearing it with such grace and elegance. She just oozes glamour. Dress, hair, make up, accessoires – she’s a perfect ten here. Oh my God, I could be staring at these pictures for hours.

P.S.: If you’re looking for a look-for-less alternative to Keira’s Valentino dress, there’s an affordable copycat version availabe over at FAVIANA. Nowhere near the original, but a good choice for fashionistas on a budget.
