Back in May at the Cannes Film Festival Penélope Cruz attended a photo call for Broken Embraces (Spanish title: “Los Abrazos Rotos”) looking breathtaking in a nude Dolce & Gabbana ruched strapless silk dress which she accessorized with matching satin Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps.

Emily Blunt wore the same dress 2 days ago at the 16th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute looking equally gorgeous. The actress decided to spice up her outfit by adding a bit of bling and a matching beige clutch which fit well with her beige Louboutin t-strap pumps. Emily also replaced the original grosgrain belt of the dress with a cute bow-tied one.

Oh my, this fashion faceoff is a tough one because I adore the dress on both women. However, I slightly prefer Penélope’s look and even though she opted out of accessorizing I am still totally blown away by how soft and feminine the dress looked on her, so it’s Penélope for me. It pains me to put Rachel Weisz in here, but she got it all wrong. Her lilac strapless Vera Wang tulle gown totally washed her out, the make-up was waaaay too dark (OMG!@ berry lips) and why, oh why, is that yellow fabric peeking out from under the hem? Sorry, Rachel, you can do so much better.

I’ve had enough with Kate Beckinsale. Her Marchesa Fall 2009 navy tulle gown was, as you would expect from Kate, over the top and unnecessary. I have never liked this dress in the first place, but seeing it on Kate makes it even worse because she ALWAYS plays it safe and never moves out of her comfort zone.

Rihanna, please stop trying so hard. Don’t get me wrong, I love the runway look, but Rihanna makes it look so desperate for attention and so silly I can’t stand it.

I also find it always were amusing when at prestigious events such as the Costume Institute Gala where women are expected to wear beautiful, feminine princess dresses there are always 1 or 2 witty female individuals who opt out of this dress code. These women think they will come off so edgy and anti-establishment when they wear something super masculine like a suit or a tuxedo for example. GENIUS, girl! I bet no one else EVER had the same idea.

I know a lot of you will not agree with me for putting Emma Roberts on the Worst Dressed list, but let me try to get my point across. I absolutely ADORE this red bubble-shaped Atelier Versace Spring 2009 mini dress. In fact it’s one of my favorite from that collection. But you can tell from a mile away that this dress was the wrong choice for Emma. It’s a dress for a SUPERMODEL! And even then I think it would be quite tricky to pull it off because of the shape. Emma looks weird and unsure of herself, the dress owns her. Not good.

Why did Donatella give it away for Emma? I mean, come on! I would have LOVED to see it on Gisele, Linda or Naomi. They would have done this dress justice.

Kiely Williams wore the same dress when she attended Us Weekly’s Hot Hollywood Party a few days ago. For some strange reason Kiely opted to wear black gloves with the dress trying desperately to look ladylike. Black peep-toe bow pumps complete the hot mess.

See how a good dress can go so, so wrong? Kiely is no competition at all. She epically fails to pull off this dress because she tries to make it to something it is not – elegant or classic. Seriously, NEVER EVER wear gloves on the red carpet unless you are attending an opera in a $10k Haute Couture dress. You will always end up looking like you’re trying too hard. For good reason. Kiely Williams, you better take note!
