Amanda Bynes

2009 MTV Video Music Awards – Worst Dressed

by Profashionelle on September 14, 2009 · 0 comments

Amber Rose, Amanda Bynes, Beyoncé Knowles, Ashley Greene, Adrienne Bailon and Jennifer Lopez are the worst dressed at the MTV VMAs 2009

Amber RoseWTF? A python printed spandex jumpsuit? Really? Can you say attention whore?

Amanda BynesYawn.com OMG, Amanda Bynes must be the most predictable, unimiganitive starlet to roam the red carpet. I guess we will rather see the world go under than Amanda taking a risk or changing her dress code formula.

Beyoncé KnowlesToo Tight Beyoncé overuses the too tight, too sexy card. I’m starting to get extremely bored by all the almost non-existant clothes she’s been wearing lately. Sasha Fierce? Yeah, whatever.

Ashley GreeneColor Coordination Mishap Ashley Greene is a beautiful girl, but on this occasion she looks like a hillbilly going to prom. Black bustier, gold skirt, white clutch, printed shoes? Color harmony is burning in hell right now. Oh – and the hair does not fit either.

Adrienne BailonPyjama Party? Adrienne Bailon’s yellow printed longsleeve dress is seriously looking like something I own that I wear to bed. It would never come to my mind to wear such an atrocious, silly thing to a red carpet event. Even the kick-ass black Balmain buckle boots can’t save that dress disaster.

Jennifer LopezMaybe Next Time Jennifer Lopez’ red carpet style is always hit and miss for me. On this occasion she just can’t convince me in her tea rose Louis Vuitton strapless dress. The separate sleeves look ridiculous and the black Louboutins – though gorgeous alone – destroy the femininity of the ensemble.

FYI: I purposely did not put up Lady GaGa on this list because it’s pretty obvious that she didn’t dress to impress. The same cannot be said about the above listed celebrities.

Heidi Montag and Amanda Bynes wearing the same pink Hervé Léger Resort 2009 bandage dress

OK, so I seriously laughed hard when I discovered Heidi Montag and Amanda Bynes have worn the same Hervé Léger dress because both are so endlessly boring and predictable in their fashion choices. I know you’re suffering from a serious Hervé Léger overdose, but let’s get this through quickly.

Heidi Montag was the first to wear this dress when she was celebrating Valentine’s Day at PURE Nightclub with her now-husband Spencer Pratt. Heidi wore the dress with her trademark curls and accessorized with gold platform sandals.

A few weeks ago then, Amanda Bynes opted for the same dress *yawn* when she attended the Star Trek LA Premiere. And guess how she finished her look? Gold platform sandals (YSL Tributes) and curly hair? Surprise surprise.

Bland and blander. I will give this one to Amanda because she SLIGHTLY looks less like a playmate ready to party it up with Hugh.

Who wore Hervé Léger better?

Zoe Saldana

Rating: ★★★★½

I’m in love. Zoe Saldana, you officially have a spot in my fashion-loving heart now! For the LA premiere, Zoe once again rocked it in a black sequinned Emilio Pucci Fall 2009 mini dress which had silver helices running across the dress. And once again Zoe opted for lustworthy statement heels – this time they were from Brian Atwood’s Fall 2009 collection.

Rating: ★★★½☆

Leighton Meester strut the red carpet in a dangerously short grey YSL Spring 2009 mini dress which had a zipper on the front and bow details on the back. Leighton completed her look with enviable YSL Spring 2009 cage bootiesicon.

Rating: ★★★★☆

Michelle Monaghan stood out in a hot pink Versace Fall 2009 dress which she paired with a glitzy clutch and black sandals. I love this look on Michelle (minus the shoes), she is always very consistent on the red carpet.

Amanda Bynes

Rating: ★½☆☆☆

Amanda Bynes continues to bore me to death with her bland fashion choices. Yet another pink Hervé Léger dress? Are you serious, Amanda? That girl lives and dies by the rule of “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.“.

Sophia Bush

Rating: ★★★★☆

The always fresh-faced Sophia Bush was also among the ladies who opted for Hervé Léger, but unlike on Amanda Bynes I really liked the zebra-striped strapless dress on her. Black strappy sandals completed Sophia’s look.

Kristin Cavallari was the third being decked out in Hervé Léger. Kristin wore a Spring 2009 design ($1.590) with cute Christian Louboutin cork peep-toes which had a hot pink platform and heel.

Heidi Klum

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Heidi Klum concealed her growing baby bump with a black Jasmine Di Milo fringed dress which she wore with black patent Louboutins. Let’s hope Heidi won’t tone down too much because of her pregnancy.

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere wearing a black top with cut-outs and a black high-waisted pencil skirt with nude Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Hayden Panettiere arrived on the red carpet wearing an all-black ensemble consisting of a black top which had sexy cut-outs on the side and a matching black high-waisted pencil skirt. Hayden thankfully added a dash of color with her pale pink Louboutin peep-toes.

Didn’t know she got inked? Is she even old enough to have a tattoo?

14th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards – Best Dressed

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie in a white Max Azria Spring 2009 gown and Brad Pitt - 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★★☆

Angelina Jolie likes to wear a lot of dark colors on the red carpet, so it was a welcome surprise to see her in something other than black. The beautiful actress strut the red carpet in a gorgeous snow white one-sleeved gown looking statuesque alongside partner Brad Pitt who happened to be a good match in his black suit.

Angelina wore her hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail and accessorized with pearl earrings, a white Hervé Léger Spring 2009 box clutch and a pair of matching white satin peep-toe pumps.

If someone else had worn this dress, I’d probably found it just OK, but Angie is working the hell out of this dress. And her hypnotic gaze does the rest. Red carpets were invented for women like her.

Amanda Bynes

Rating: ★★★☆☆

A red carpet event wouldn’t be what it is if we hadn’t at least one celebrity go for the body-con Hervé Léger. Young Hollywood loves its curve hugging bandage dresses, so I was the last to be surprised seeing Amanda Bynes rocking a hot pink version from the Spring 2009 collection.

Amanda who is having the same hairstyle for ages accessorized the pink minidress with black sparkling Christian Louboutin slingbacks and a gold clutch. She should have matched her clutch with the black pumps instead. This would have given her outfit an Alexander McQueen feel to it making her attire less booooring.

Indeed it’s a VERY predictable choice and I am as tired as everyone of all the Hervé Léger overload, but I won’t deny that Amanda looked absolutely sexy in it. Like a real-life Barbie doll (which is not automatically a bad thing because you know we all loved and caressed our precious Barbies back then, didn’t we?).

I will give this one to Amanda for reviving old childhood memories, but this is certainly the last time I’m putting a celebrity wrapped in Hervé Léger on the “Best Dressed“-list. Go and get yourself some creativity, Hollywood!

Amy Adams

Amy Adams in a blue Oscar De La Renta Pre-Fall 2009 dress at the 14th Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★½☆

Amy Adams was her usual fabulous self looking flawless in a royal blue strapless cocktail dress from the collection. The redhead adorned her dress with a silver brooch at the hip and accessorized with a matching silver clutch and .

Loving the natural make-up, especially the nude lipstick. Beautiful!

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway in a black and white Gianfranco Ferré Spring 2009 dress at the 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★★☆

Anne Hathaway was undergoing a major style improvement in 2008 and the trend seems to continue in 2009. The lovely actress looked stunning in a black and white folded strapless dress from the collection. I am loving the Cruella de Vil vibe of her dress.

Anne completed her look with sleek hair, hoop earrings, a transparent belt with a golden buckle and black platform peep-toes.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria in a turquoise Monique Lhuillier Spring 2009 dress at the 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★½☆

Eva Longoria sticked to her usual short cocktail dresses and brought some much needed color to the red carpet by wearing a turquoise halter-neck dress with gold embellishments at the neck and waist.

It’s a typical Monique Lhuillier design and a bit of a safe option for Eva, but you really can’t blame her for choosing it. It’s a beautiful dress and the gold embellishments against the rich turquoise color remind me of summer, so I will forgive her for being a tad boring. This time.

See how Eva elongated her legs by wearing nude Christian Louboutin pumps? I would’ve ditched the yellow clutch for a matching gold one though.

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale in J.Mendel Pre-Fall 2009 - 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★½☆

Kate Beckinsale was beautiful as usual wearing what she wears best: figure-hugging strapless gowns. This chocolate brown dress is a good choice, but I start to tire of Kate’s safe approach to red carpet fashion. I wish she’d let Anne Hathaway or Diane Kruger inspire her to change her dressing habits to being more adventurous when it comes to fashion.

Diane Lane & Josh Brolin

Diane Lane in Monique Lhuillier -14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★½☆

Many celebrities dress in black on the red carpet and end up looking boring and uninspired. If you happen to be Diane Lane however wearing a sequined black Monique Lhuillier dress with a black satin bow tied to your waist, there’s absolutely no need to worry. A good looking hubby on your side doesn’t hurt either though.

Danielle Ward

Danielle Ward in a black and white paisley print dress at the 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards 2009

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Writer Danielle Ward looked very elegant in her monochrome floral printed strapless dress which had a sweetheart neckline and a sparkling brooch attached.

At this year’s SAG Awards, there were quite a few ladies sporting a rather unconventional color on their red carpet dresses: teal.

But which lovely gal rocked this shade of turquoise best? Was it Amanda Bynes in Marchesa, Marcia Cross in Monique Lhuillier or Jamie-Lynn Sigler in Calvin Klein? Let us know.

Though I personally like Amanda’s embellished empire waisted dress best, I think I’ll go with Marcia Cross here. She perfectly accesorized her gown and the red hair creates a striking contrast with the vibrant color of her dress.
