Where to Buy Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

This was bound to happen. As news of Alexander McQueen’s passing spread his designs have started to sell out all over the world. I noticed Zappos who carries a lot of Alexander McQueen shoes, handbags and accessories has sold out of over half of their inventory including every single pair of the popular skull clutches (Marissa Collections is the last one to carry a yellow version) in a mere 24 hours! I am now debating whether my finances allow me to purchase a pair of original McQueen heels. Sigh!

I’ve put together a list of all online shopping destinations which carry Alexander McQueen or McQ.

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen - Rest in Peace

Words fail me. Today the world has lost one of its greatest talents Lee Alexander McQueen. What a tragic loss. I’m heartbroken, shocked & deeply saddened. The passing of the 40-year-old British designer leaves a gaping hole in the fashion world.

When I first started showing interest in fashion a few years ago, McQueen was one of the first designers I fell for and admired and until this day no one could come close to his unparalleled talent and creativity. I still can’t believe he is no more. This day is one of the blackest days in the history of fashion.

R.I.P Lee Alexander McQueen. I hope you have found peace & serenity wherever you are now. Never shall you be forgotten!

My thoughts are with McQueen’s family and friends. I can’t remember that I have ever been that affected by the death of someone whom I didn’t know personally. As a tribute to the mastermind that …was… Alexander McQueen and his brilliant creative endeavors, I have created a collage of some of McQueen’s greatest designs. Feel free to download it and use it as your twitter background, on your blog, as a wallpaper, whatever.

16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards – Best Dressed

Kate Hudson in Emilio Pucci Spring 2010, Diane Kruger in Jason Wu, Christina Applegate in Roberto Cavalli, Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen Spring 2010, Lea Michele in Catherine Malandrino Spring 2010, Anna Kendrick in Alberta Ferretti, Marion Cotillard in Elie Saab Fall 2009 Couture & Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen at the 2010 SAG Awards

Yesterday at the 2010 SAG Awards I first saw Kate Hudson in her beautiful white backless Emilio Pucci gown and she just blew me away. So much that I almost forgot she had already picked a white gown for the 2010 Golden Globes last week. But she looked too angelic for me to bother.

Diane Kruger is always so flawless it’s almost boring! For me, she was the best dressed last night in her mustard fitted off-the-shoulder Jason Wu gown. Her dress instantly reminded me of Michelle Williams Vera Wang gown at the Oscars in 2006. No one can do old Hollywood glamour like Diane. Perfection!

Christina Applegate is always hit and miss on the red carpet, but on this ocassion she was simply breath-taking in a gorgeous dusty blue Roberto Cavalli chiffon gown. Perfectly accessorized, Christina was definitely among my top 3 for best dressed last night.

Anna Paquin was one of the few who rather opted for a short frock. Her printed plunge neck dress was from Alexander McQueen’s spectacular Spring 2010 collection and Anna did the dress more than justice.

I always love to see green on the red carpet, it’s such a flattering yet underappreciated color! Fortunately, Lea Michele was brave enough to don this emerald green plunge neck column gown by Catherine Malandrino. Simply stunning!

Anna Kendrick wore a fuchsia strapless Alberta Ferretti ruffle gown. She may be new to the red carpet game, but she’s already acting like a pro. Love it!

Isn’t it refreshing to see Marion Cotillard in something other than Dior? Don’t get me wrong, I love Christian Dior as much as anybody else, but over time Marion’s red carpet looks became stale and predictable. I was hoping for a sexier look this time and it seems like the fashion gods answered my prayers. Marion’s white crystal embellished feathered frock from Elie Saab’s Fall 2009 Couture collection was a mixture of diva meets revue dancer. Magnifique, Marion!

Sandra Bullock’s dress choice was more understated than her purple stand-out gown at the Globes, but that didn’t stop her from being once again a stunner in a black keyhole Alexander McQueen gown looking all classy and statuesque.

3rd Annual Art Of Elysium “Heaven” Gala Event – Best Dressed

Olivia Wilde, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Jamie King, Nicole Richie and Ashley Olsen at the 3rd Annual Art Of Elysium "Heaven" Gala Event

Olivia Wilde seems to have become Marchesa’s unofficial brand ambassador. The actress wore a beautiful strapless rose gown from the Fall 2009 collection which had floral embroideries and feathers going across the entire dress. Brian Atwood’s Maniac pumps in nude completed Olivia’s ultra feminine look.

Kate Bosworth was my favorite last night. She was a vision in her dove grey strapless Alexander McQueen column gown. Simple and elegant. Perfection!

Red is definitely Jessica Alba’s color. The hot mama opted for a red flirty strapless mini dress which she accessorized with a gorgeous statement necklace, a black satin clutch and matching black peep-toe heels. So chic!

Jamie King strut the red carpet in one of Burberry Prorsum’s uber-gorgeous draped dresses. Her baby blue mini dress was worn without the belt and shoes as shown on the runway. Feminine yet quirky!

After a few brief flirts with contemporary lines Nicole Richie reverted back to her boho chic attire. Her multi-coloured paisley printed long sleeve wrap dress from Etro’s Spring 2010 collection had Nicole’s name all over it. I’m usually not a fan of busy prints, but Nicole makes it work for her. Lovely choice!

Ashley Olsen brought on the drama in her nude lace-covered Alexander McQueen mermaid gown. I know many of you will hate Ashley’s dark berry lipstick, but I just love that she chose such a dark lip to wear with her ethereal dress. It’s a bold choice and Ashley carries it off with ease.
