Lindsay Price vs. Jennifer Morrison vs. Liya Kebede - 3.1 Phillip Lim Navy Ruffle Dress

Fashion Faceoff time! Seems like this navy 3.1 Phillip Lim ruffle-front dress is quickly becoming a celebrity favorite. As of now, 3 beautiful ladies donned this romantic midnight blue frock. The tiered ruffles on the skirt, the poofy sleeves, the navy color – simply adorable, isn’t it?

Actress Jennifer Morrison was the first to wear this popular mini dress at the 3.1 Phillip Lim Los Angeles Flagstore Opening back in June. She accessorized with a beautiful pearl necklace, a silver box clutch and a pair of silver strappy sandals.

Fast forward 6 months later. Model Liya Kebede opted for the same dress which she kept well hidden under her black coat on December 1st, 2008 at the screening of the “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button“. The model wore her dress with black tights, black boots and carried a black handbag.

Lindsay Price was the last to join the 3.1 Phillip Lim-lovers by wearing the same ruffled dress to “Hornitos Midnight in the Garden of Agave” a few days after Liya’s red carpet appearance. The actress opted for red suede Mary Janes and red lips to go with the dress.

My favorite has to be Jennifer Morrison. She was the only one doing this beautiful dress justice because of her well chosen accessories (jewelry, clutch & shoes). Plus, I love how she wore her hair in a loose wavy updo to give the dress a sophisticated look.

The other two managed to look decent, but I wish Lindsay would’ve picked some accessories to add interest (the red shoes and lips weren’t simply enough for me) and Liya’s version was plain boring (she didn’t seem to be enjoying herself in general).

Look of the Day – Fighting the Winter Blues

by Profashionelle on December 16, 2008 · 0 comments

Getting through this cold season without developing a major winter depression can be pretty tough sometimes. The lack of sunshine and the chilly temperatures dry up a lot of our physical and mental energy. But fear not! Intelligent fashion is here to save your day!

To avoid the winter blues, remember to add bold colors such as hot pink, canary yellow or soylent green to your winter wardrobe. This will help to keep the blues away from you (plus everyone coming your way) and will also make sure you get noticed during this dreary season. Genius, huh?

When I was browsing MINT by Jodi Arnold’s website, I discovered an asymmetrical turquoise Grecian dress which instantly reminded me of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s lemon Grecian style dress made famous by Paris Hilton who wore the amazing dress to a taping of Letterman in January 2008.

Are the similarities between these two dresses too many to call it coincidence? The 3.1 Phillip Lim Silk pleated Grecian dress costs $795 and can be bought at NET-A-PORTER in yellow and black.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any details about the turquoise MINT by Jodi Arnold Summer 2008 dress or retailers who sell it, but from what I know the prices for MINT dresses are about $300-$500.

UPDATE: The turquoise asymmetric silk jersey dress by Jodi Arnold is now also available at NET-A-PORTER. Price: $365.
