This must be the cutest Valentine’s Day dress EVER! I am so in love with it. It’s a really sweet LBD from the front with the boatneck, belt and satin bands on the hemline, but it’s a killer piece from the back with the sexy cut-out heart shape. Love at First Sight – Givenchy Pink Cut-out Shoe Boots

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I’ve been wanting these gorgeous pink Givenchy shoes since I first saw them featured on NET-A-PORTER‘s magazine several months ago. Finally, they arrived and are up for sale now. The cut-outs remind me of butterfly wings and everyone knows I’m a sucker for pink shoes. Love at first sight!

These stand out shoes will look gorgeous with a black LBD or a nice tailored suit, but if you want to wear them with anything other than black or white, why not go for something blue? As you can see below both colors compliment each other and look divine together.

Other colors you can wear with these shoes which would look lovely together are purple and yellow. Colors to avoid mixing with pink are red and orange. Also, don’t go head-to-toe pink, this would make every woman look girlish and Barbie obsessed.

When I was looking through the site’s traffic stats today, I found a lot of people were coming from a Yahoo Answers thread where a girl was looking for a specific celebrity inspired prom dress:

I am looking for a look-alike dress like Carrie Underwood [wore at the Movies Rock 2007 event].

It is red, with gold embellishment. If anyone can find a dress like this I will be forever grateful!!

First off, I can see why you love the dress so much. That red grecian inspired gown is probably the best dress Carrie Underwood has ever been wearing.

But it wasn’t all about the dress. Carrie was overall looking fantastic and accessorized well with a gold clutch, matching chandelier earrings and a gold bangle.

A Dress 4 Less – Carrie Underwood Style

I didn’t know how big or small your budget is, so I tried to find the best of the best in the $200-$400 range which I hope is affordable for you. I couldn’t find a replica of Carrie’s dress, but I stumbled upon some beautiful alternatives which I hope will please you as much as they pleased me.

Dress #1 is my absolute favorite and probably the closest match to Carrie’s dress you’ll find. I adore the gold details on the shoulder and the floaty nature of the dress. The bodice isn’t as loose fitting as on Carrie’s version and the plunge neckline isn’t as deep, but I think this might be working for you since you’re still going to High School.

If you’re all about the embellished waist on Carrie’s dress, you could try to find a wide gold belt to go with the dress, but I feel it could also do without and make you still look equally spectacular.

Dress #2 and #3 come close and are beautiful alternatives if you don’t mind that the embellishments are silver.

Dress #4 and #5 are a bit on the Bollywood side, but if accessorized well they can look fantastic on you.

Accessories

After you’ve settled for the dress, choose jewelry that emphasizes your dress. Don’t overdo it and make sure nothing about your getup will upstage the person wearing it.

I went for gold accessories, but if you decide on a dress with silver embellishments (e.g. #2 to #5), of course you’ll have to choose matching silver jewelry.

If you feel bold enough for some edge, add the turquoise cocktail ring (#5) to your prom attire. It’s not an obvious color combination, but I guarantee you, it will make you stand out.

You really want to get your earrings noticed, so I suggest you wear an elegant loose updo like Carrie (if your hair is long enough). An updo is the perfect hairstyle for a floor-length gown as it instantly adds elegance and grace to your whole look.

No necklace! This is super important in order to pull off a plunge neckline. A necklace would be totally out of place here. So remember to keep your neckline bare.

Shoes

Going to a prom usually includes a lot of dancing, so you better skip the idea of wearing high heels unless you want to enjoy your evening seated while constantly complaining about how much your feet hurt in those darn shoes.

Instead, go for something mid-heeled, something strappy and embellished like the sandals below. And don’t forget to stock up on foot petals, they’ll be your lifesaver that evening.

How To Dress a Pear Shape – Office Look

The office look above is perfectly stylish and functional for a pear-shaped person. The ivory ruffle blouse is the most interesting piece in this outfit driving the eye upwards to your best assets while at the same time adding volume to your torso and balancing out your body shape. Plus, the blouse cinches in at the waistline accentuating your slim waist.

The black color of the pant & the wide leg skinnifies your thighs & hips and lenghtens your leg area. The peep-toe pumps add height = make you look skinnier & taller. The soft pastel colors and the ruffles give the office look a feminine touch while the patent python tote gives you some needed edge.

BUT REMEMBER to keep accessories to a mininum here. Keep your neckline bare and let the ruffles do all the work for you. Studs and a minimalistic bangle like the one above are perfectly enough jewelry ~ more would make you look totally overdressed for work.
