Love at First Sight - Giambattista Valli “Victoria” Platform Heels

Yup, I’m officially in shoe heaven. If I were to own a pair of these awesome Giambattista Valli platforms most likely I wouldn’t be able to walk in them, but who cares as long as they look so A-M-A-Z-I-N-G on your feet, right?

Giambattista Valli - Spring 2008 Footwear

Giambattista Valli Victoria Platforms - Spring 2008 Collection

The first time I saw these darlings they have been strutted down the runway of Giambattista Valli’s Spring 2008 fashion show where they took my heart by surprise. They instantly rocketed to the top of my wishlist, but unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough to grab a pair for myself since women across the world have been trying to get their hands on the “Victoria“-shoe which was named after former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham because she was the first to wear these lovely heels in a photoshoot for fashion magazine ELLE.

The year went by and the GV platforms with the killer 6″ heel faded as I was starting to have new shoe obsessions with the likes of Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen or Brian Atwood. Until yesterday when they accidentally crossed my eye again. And they returned with a BANG!

Celebrities & Giambattista Valli

As you can see, I’m not the only one lusting after this dramatic footwear. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Jessica Biel, Mary-Kate Olsen, Victoria Beckham and Nicole Scherzinger have been seen sporting the GV “Victoria” platforms to several events. My personal favorites are Jessica Biel’s fire red pair and MK’s white ones with the hot pink platform and heel. Gorgeous, aren’t they? Which ones do you like best?

Designer Inspiration - Giambattista Valli vs. Forever 21

Giambattista Valli vs. Forever 21 - Platform Heels

There is no such thing as an iconic shoe if it doesn’t get at least copied once by the mainstream shoe industry. And this is exactly what happened when Forever 21 launched their “Vero Neon Platform“-shoes. No question about them being blatant copies available in either black/pink or black/lime for as much as $22.80. But since I couldn’t get a pair of the Giambattistas I really start thinking about purchasing the copycats just for the fun of it. They probably won’t last long or spend any comfort (I think the architecture of the shoe makes it impossible even if the shoe was $600), but that’s not what I expect from a shoe that’s $20. Of course there are always exceptions. And since I’ve never bought footwear from Forever 21 before I guess I just might give it a go and find out myself.

Would you buy the GV knock-offs from Forever 21?

Look of the Day - Office Chic in Blue & Yellow

Chic Office Look in Blue & Yellow

Not much to say about this chic office look. It’s Monday which means NET-A-PORTER has added a bunch of new stuff to their shop, so I played around a bit with yellow and blue - a lovely beautiful color combination. What do you think of it?

My Election Day Outfit

US Election Day Outfit - Red White and Blue with Stars

I’m not an American citizen and therefore am not allowed to vote (unfortunately), but since the presidential campaign draws a lot of international attention and is crucial not only to the USA but to the whole world, I’ve got all excited about creating an adequate red, white and blue outfit I’d love to wear on election day which is on November 4th, 2008 in case you didn’t know!

I had so much fun doing this outfit. Here are the details:

So, what are you going to wear on election day? Will you be wearing the patriotic colors I have chosen, will you step up to the ballot box in Jackie O style or will you give way to your pacifist nature and silently rebel against war by fishing a cool retro peace shirt out of your closet? Let me know, I’m eager to have a look at your outfits.

P.S.: If you happen to be an American being able to VOTE, GO and make a choice! VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Miu Miu vs. Cesare Paciotti - Sculpted Heel Pumps

So this case of “designer inspiration” is quite interesting. It’s not your typical case of copycatting a la Steve Madden being once again “inspired” by famous designer shoes. This time it’s designer vs. designer. Miu Miu vs. Cesare Paciotti to be exact. Case of subject: the sculpted heel pumps I have first seen in the Miu Miu ad campaign with French singer Vanessa Paradis.

The colors may differ, but the shoe’s trademark - the sculpted heel and the platform are too similar to call it coincidence. So what do you think, who’s been the copycat here?

Who is the copycat?

Love at First Sight: Alexander McQueen Union Jack Ankle Boots

Yes, I admit: I AM ADDICTED TO SHOES! But who wouldn’t be smitten by the look of these OH-MY-GOD-TOO-GORGEOUS Alexander McQueen Union Jack Ankle Booties? They are everything - bold, beautiful and full of detail.

Alexander McQueen deserves an award for this lovely piece of iconic footwear. The only thing that draws me back from purchasing a pair for my own pleasure is the hefty price tag of $1.260. But I can wait until they go on sale.
