Christy Turlington vs. Diane Kruger - Who wore Chanel Resort Better?

I’m in the mood for another fashion faceoff, so here you go.

Supermodel Christy Turlington and German actress Diane Kruger both have fallen for a beautiful black Chanel Resort halterneck dress witch crosshatching detail on the bust and a semi sheer panel below.

Christy first wore this frock to the premiere of Katherine Heigl’s 27 Dresses in L.A. on January 7th, 2007. She donned all black by teaming her dress with a black cardigan and black patent peep-toe heels.

Diane wore the same dress to Chanel’s Spring 2008 Couture Fashion Show 2 weeks later with a cute chain headband, a fur jacket (not in the picture), a gold embellished Chanel 2.55 bag (not in the picture) and a pair of gorgeous yellow Chanel pumps.

Diane easily wins this for me. Christy played it too safe with going all black whereas Diane took some risk by adding the yellow heels and the fur jacket to the halterneck dress. That gave her outfit that extra something. Plus, I’m loving Diane’s hair.

Hayden Panettiere - White Top and Black Pencil Skirt Favorite Look

If you haven’t already noticed, Heroes hottie Hayden Panettiere has been sporting a rather unhealthy obsession with a certain look lately – the tucked in white blouse combined with a black pencil skirt and black pumps (mostly peep-toes).

As far as our research goes, Hayden’s been opting at least 6x for this monochrome sophisticated look in the last 4 months.

Apart from seeing this look too many times on Hayden now, I really like the combination (if chosen carefully). But still, I can’t help thinking that this is not a style that suits Hayden very much. First, it makes Hayden age about 10 to 15 years. Considered that the actress is only 18, it’s kind of weird to see her going for the “First Lady“-look. Second, Hayden’s a petite girl and that really nice pencil skirt is cutting off her short legs at a rather unflattering, not so nice length. In fact, the skirt makes Hayden look smaller and boxier than she actually is. But see for yourself.

October 13, 2007 – Christian Louboutin Party, New York

Hayden Panettiere - Christian Louboutin Party Hosted by Saks October 2007

This event seems to be the birth of Hayden’s current obsession with pencil skirts. She paired her satin skirt with a tucked in white backless halter top, a large red clutch and a pair of black velvet Louboutins.

If you like this look, check out the “Look for Less“-alternative on .

November 14, 2007 – Lamborghini Opening to Benefit the Epilepsy Foundation, New York

Hayden Panettiere - Lamborghini Opening to Benefit the Epilepsy Foundation

Fast forward one month later. Same skirt, same belt, same shoes, different white top, but still white, still tucked in.

December 13, 2007 – 65th Annual Golden Globe Award Nominations, New York

Hayden Panettiere - 65th Annual Golden Globe Award Nominations

Again one month later. A new pencil skirt, but still black. Yes, technically spoken, the sleeveless turtleneck top is not exactly white and it’s also not tucked in, but it’s still the same boring style.

In this case, Hayden should’ve rather worn the shirt tucked in because it falls way too long on her small frame making Hayden look smaller.

December 14, 2007 – Z100’s Jingle Ball 2007, New York

Hayden Panettiere - Z100 Jingle Ball 2007

Next day, but basically the same outfit. Same black pencil skirt, same black shoes and -surprise- a white tucked in blouse (again sleeveless, but this time ruffled)

Covet this look? Here are some “Look for Less“-alternatives:

January 31, 2008 – New Year, New Old Navy Celebration, New York

Hayden Panettiere - New Year, New Old Navy Celebration January 2008

New Year, same old look on Hayden. Black pencil skirt? Check. Black peep-toe heels? Check. White tucked in top? Check. (Okay, okay, the top’s ivory, but you get the idea).

(Btw, the ivory silk chiffon tie blouse is from Nu Collective and can be purchased for $185 at and )

Summary

Hayden, darling, please give us some rest from your favorite look. We all know you like pencil skirts by now, so how about getting some variety in your closet? Unlike us mortals, I’m sure you get tons of great new stuff delivered to your doorstep every day, so why not take advantage of it?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against recycling clothes, but Hayden’s carried things too far here with her faible for the monochrome look. It’s not about being economic anymore, it’s about being plain boring and uncreative.

Of course, there still might be a reasonable explanation why Hayden’s been channeling her inner secretary for the last few months. Maybe she landed a role as an office lady and that’s how she prepares for the role? You know, method acting at its best.

So what do you think about Hayden and her pencil skirt?

Should Hayden Panettiere get herself some new clothes?

January 2008 Red Carpet Fashion – Jessica Alba

by Profashionelle on February 2, 2008 · 0 comments

As of late, it seems like actress and mother-to-be Jessica Alba has been practically everywhere in the news and on TV. Home girl had a busy schedule last week in order to promote her new supernatural thriller, “The Eye“.

And while we’re not that interested in Jessica’s movies, we rather decided to take a closer look on what she was wearing these days. Certainly NOT maternity wear, that’s for sure.

January 10, 2008 – “Glamour Magazine V-Day Luncheon”, Los Angeles

Jessica Alba - Pink Christian Dior Resort 2008 Dress

Jessica was literally glowing with happiness when she attended the 10th anniversary of the V-Day with fiancé and baby daddy Cash Warren. Jessica was wearing a sweet pink printed chiffon dress, a lovely clutch and adorable pink peep-toe shoes.

I wonder if Jessica decided to go with the dress because of its floating nature to hide her baby bump?

January 26, 2008 – “G’Day USA: Australia Day 2008 Black Tie Gala Dinner”, New York

Jessica Alba - Gucci Spring 2008 Dress

At the Australia Day 2008 Black Tie Gala Dinner, Jessica was simply beautiful sporting a bi-colored one-shouldered floor-length gown from the collection and a black mini clutch.

Love, love, love the updo.

Rating: ★★★★☆

January 28, 2008 – “The Late Show with David Letterman”, New York

Jessica Alba - The Late Show with David Letterman January 2008

At the David Letterman late night show, Jessica was all glammed up in a racy fire-red Dior dress. She paired her look with classic pearl earrings, opaque tights and black pumps.

Again, I especially love her hair here. The sleek retro waves look damn fine!

Rating: ★★★★☆

January 29, 2008 – “MTV Total Request Live”, New York

Jessica Alba - MTV TRL January 2008

While being in NYC, Jessica managed to stop by at MTV’s Total Request Live where she was working a cute coffee brown beaded off-the-shoulder pocket dress from Gold Hawk with opaque tights and black patent Mary Janes.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

January 31, 2008 – “The Eye Premiere”, Los Angeles

Jessica Alba - Narciso Rodriguez Pre-Fall 2008 Dress

At the L.A. premiere of her latest flick, Jessica decided to show off some cleavage in a midnight blue dress from the collection. She paired her ensemble with opaque tights and black satin pumps. Again.

While I find the dress and color too boring on Jessica, I think she still pulls it off quite nicely. Pregnancy is doing a lot for Jessie.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Summary

Jessica was doing it quite right lately. She kicked off 2008 in some beautiful dresses (e.g. the black and yellow Gucci dress). Seems like pregnancy is positively influencing Jessica’s fashion choices. Well, except for the opaque tights + black pumps look which I am so tired of seeing on Jessica. Time to show off your pins, girl!

Overall Rating: ★★★½☆

At this year’s SAG Awards, there were quite a few ladies sporting a rather unconventional color on their red carpet dresses: teal.

But which lovely gal rocked this shade of turquoise best? Was it Amanda Bynes in Marchesa, Marcia Cross in Monique Lhuillier or Jamie-Lynn Sigler in Calvin Klein? Let us know.

Who wears the best teal gown?

Though I personally like Amanda’s embellished empire waisted dress best, I think I’ll go with Marcia Cross here. She perfectly accesorized her gown and the red hair creates a striking contrast with the vibrant color of her dress.

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes in Marchesa Resort 2008 - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★★½

Amanda Bynes was picture perfect in a stunning teal blue embellished strapless gown.

A perfect red carpet moment for Amanda and she definitely managed to stand out between all the big names. This is the best I’ve seen Amanda look so far and I hope she stays on that course fashionwise in 2008.

P.S.: I cannot tell you how much I adore Amanda’s do. She looks like a gorgeous fairy tale princess. Pure perfection & my red carpet favorite yet.

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★½☆

Ashley Tisdale looks very grown up and sophisticated in this beautiful white floor-length gown. Maybe it’s the new nose which makes her look so different here, but I think I also like her hair here. She still needs to learn how to strike a good pose though.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria in Naeem Khan Spring 2008 - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★★☆

For someone as petite as Eva Longoria floor-length gowns aren’t easy to pull off, but the Desperate Housewives star does it with grace as per usual.

At this year’s SAGs Eva was giving us some old Hollywood glamour wearing a sexy ice white gown which gave us a pretty good sight on her fully-exposed back.

But the real deal about Eva’s look are her dazzling Verdura earrings if you ask me. Dramatic!

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale in Luisa Beccaria Spring 2008- SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★★☆

Kate Beckinsale was a glowing beauty in this lemon yellow strapless satin gown. She accesorized her shiny appearance with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

Kate sure knows how to work the red carpet. I love the color of the dress and it’s a pleasant change to finally see some daring hues on the red carpet. Kate explains her color choice:

“It’s such a miserable day here I thought I’d bring a little sunshine.”

Marcia Cross

Marcia Cross in Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2008 - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★★☆

Marcia Cross turned heads by wearing a gorgeous teal strapless floor-length gown. The dazzling contrast between the color of the dress and Marcia’s shiny red hair is fierce.

Marcia complemented her draping frock with jewels from Lorraine Schwartz.

Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard in Nina Ricci Spring 2008 - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★★☆

Marion Cotillard was another red carpet favorite of mine wearing an amazing corseted, pleated and gathered strapless gown with Chopard jewelry.

Also thumbs up for Marion wearing her hair up; this was the best decision she could make for this dress. This cloudy grey gown needs space to make a bold statement. The only downside of Marion’s getup was the color of the dress – it was a tad boring.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer in Versace Pre-Fall 2008 - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★½☆

The age defying Michelle Pfeiffer chose to look absolutely fabulous by wearing a brownish monochrome cocktail dress. The dress is a bit of an understatement for such a big ceremony as the SAG Awards, but she makes it work for her.

Michelle finished off her look by pairing her dress with matching satin peep-toe Louboutins. Lovely!

Sophia Bush

Sophia Bush - SAG Awards 2008

Rating: ★★★½☆

Sophia Bush seems to have picked up on Michelle Pfeiffer because she also decided to go with a brown short strapless frock. While the color isn’t one I would’ve chosen for such an event, I do like the sheeny silhouette of Sophia’s ruched cocktail dress.
