Amy Adams was drop-dead gorgeous in her black strapless Oscar De La Renta Spring 2009 gown at the Golden Globe Awards this year. There was something magical about that dress and Amy looked absolutely enchanting in it. I wasn’t sure if it was the dress that made all the magic happen or the combination of both. I think I came to the conclusion that EVERYONE would’ve looked this good if given the chance to wear such an amazing dress.
Then I saw Pamela Silva wearing the same dress to the Lo Nuestro a La Musica Latina Awards yesterday and for some strange reason the dress lost all its sparkle for me. There was nothing that captivated me about Pamela’s look. It’s not that Pamela didn’t look pretty, but I just didn’t feel the magic like when I saw it on Amy the first time.
Clear decision for me: AMY, AMY, AMY! Her emerald earrings alone would have convinced me to give her my vote (♥).
UPDATE: The woman now named Pamela Silva was wrongly labeled as Ilia Calderon by me (thanks for the id, Jay!).

Marisa Tomei stepped out on the red carpet wearing a silver and black strapless number by German designer Kai Kühne when she attended the Launch Party for LATISSE. The actress finished her look with black patent pumps.
I really like the pockets and geometric elements on the dress and even the unusual length of this dress doesn’t harm Marisa’s elegant look. Fabulous!

Selma Blair strut the red carpet at the Dark Glamour Book Signing Event wearing a stunning black Chanel Resort 2009 lace dress which was belted at the waist and had a nude underlay. Selma completed her look with a cute egg-shaped clutch from the Chanel 2008 collection and a pair of ultra-gorgeous black patent YSL Trib Two Mary Janes.
Leigh Lezark wore the same Chanel dress yesterday when she attended The American Museum Of Natural History’s Museum Dance. Leigh opted out of wearing the belt, instead she finished her look with a small Chanel bag and black peep-toes.
Selma wins this for me. I prefer the dress with the belt as it gives Selma a great curvy silhouette. Plus, I like how she accessorized the dress. It also seems to fit her style more.

Anne Hathaway was the first to wear this exquisite strapless dress from Marchesa’s Spring 2009 collection when she attended the 46th New York Film Festival back in September 2008. The monochrome dress had 2 thigh high side slits and and floral embroideries on the entire gown. Anne’s look was perfected with an elegant updo and standout drop earrings.
Georgina Chapman who hardly wears anything else than her own brand for red carpet events, decided to up the ante and customized the same gown with gold embroideries to make sure she stands out in a sea of evening gowns at the 2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Georgina finished her look with black satin pumps and a matching black clutch.
Even though Georgina’s version looks more lush than Anne’s, I do prefer it on Anne. The embroideries on her dress are not so much in-your-face and Anne’s updo allows to see her beautiful neckline. 1:0 for Anne. What do you think? Is it Anne or Georgina for you?
