When I saw Samantha Harris‘s fierce red gown, I knew I had seen it before on someone else. And that someone else was no other than Katherine Heigl who wore an almost identical gown to the Oscars 2008. Katherine’s dress was Escada of course and it landed her a spot on my Oscars Best Dressed list.
I knew Samantha’s gown couldn’t be Escada, no reputable designer would ever give away a dress that has made such a big entrance to a red carpet event before, twice. The dresses also weren’t 100% identical as Samantha’s version didn’t look as exquisite as Katherine’s and the chiffon train on Samantha’s dress was missing as well.
I wondered who designed Samantha’s red gown and all of a sudden it hit me like a hammer. Samantha’s dress must be a knockoff version from Katherine’s Escada dress! And who is the first to turn to when it comes to red carpet dress replicas? Of course, Faviana
!

See what I mean? The same dress as seen on Samantha Harris. I feel like this is a total “Oh no, she didn’t“-moment. You just don’t wear a knockoff gown to a major red carpet event. I mean it’s not like Katherine’s dress went unnoticed by the crowds. It was huge and everyone loved it, so I wonder if Samantha did really think no one would find out?
Katherine easily wins this. There is simply no competition between Escada and Faviana. And the fact that Samantha tried to get away with a knockoff gown at the SAG Awards really takes all the class out of it.

A few days ago we had the perfect LWD, now it’s time to present you the perfect LBD. Since Miuccia Prada revived it in her Prada Fall 2008 collection, lace is one of the biggest trends right now – on runways, red carpets or on the streets. Lace is basically everywhere and worn with everything.
Get your own piece of lace luxury by grabbing this stunning black sleeveless jersey dress with a lace yoke from Alice + Olivia
. The cut is classy and subtle while the lace adds a touch of sexiness. So femme fatale, I love it! Plus, the dress is currently on sale for $308 (was $440)!

And may I say that I am equally in love with the shoes? So adorable, so sexy, sooo high. They are also available at shopbop: Berny Demore “Sabrina” Sandals
($226.50 down from $775, FINAL SALE).

Laura Dern was the first to wear this grey two-toned halterneck gown from the Catherine Malandrino Resort 2009 collection when she attended the 14th Annual Critics Choice Awards 2009 on January 8th, 2009.
The chiffon dress had an empire waistline which was embellished with multicolored sequins. Laura accessorized with a bit of jewelry (a flower ring and gold bangles), a taupe snakeskin box clutch and a pair of black strappy sandals.
Two weeks later and we have Alicia Witt wearing the same dress to the RIAA and Feeding America Inauguration Charity Ball on January 20th, 2009.
The redhaired beauty wore her hair in a loose curly updo and completed her look with a sparkling gold box clutch and black strappy heels.
First off, I think I would’ve liked the dress much better without the odd-looking cummerbund. Otherwise it’s a beautiful dress which works great on both actresses because of their statuesque bodies. However, if I had to choose a winner, I’d go with Alicia because her look is more polished than Laura’s.

This is the dress as it appeared on the “runway“.

I think I have an obsession with the name Alexander. Why, you ask? Because two of my absolute favorite designers are named like that. Of couse, we’re talking about Alexander McQueen and Alexander Wang.
Today, it’s all about Wang and his perfect creation of an LWD (=Little White Dress). He’s the best when it comes to mixing sexy with edgy chic. Wang’s color palette is mostly confined to black and white (and everything in between), but he really owns these colors, so I don’t mind.
This draped silk jersey dress from Wang’s Spring 2009 collection made me instantly swoon. Isn’t it the prettiest little thing of fabric you’ve ever seen? Me loves it.
The dress is currently up for pre-oder at Saks and I’m sure it will go like hot cakes. If you have 600 bucks to spare and there’s still room for a perfect LWD in your closet, grab your chance to infinite glee and buy it!

I would style it like Saks who copied the look from Wang’s runway presentation of the dress. Black chunky heels or a pair of gladiators would be a perfect fit. Finish it off with a black cropped blazer (sleeves rolled up) and you’re set.
