Cécile Cassel attended the Fashion Dinner for Aids on January 29th in Paris being completely decked out in Louis Vuitton. The French actress wore a black Spring 2009 ensemble which consisted of a black blazer, a wide red and orange lace-up belt, a feathered black skirt and the obligatory safari standout heels.
Kerry Washington followed to wear the same basic blazer and skirt ensemble at the 2nd Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon on February 19th in Beverly Hills. Kerry however decided to spice it up a little by adding a gold and silver lace-up belt, an oversized black clutch and animal print wedge pumps to her look.
I honestly think it’s nearly impossible to outdo Kerry here. She was absolute gorgeousness in that LV ensemble. Kerry also accessorized much better and experimented by opting out of wearing head-to-toe Louis Vuitton. The blazer seemed more fitted on her than on Cécile (also the skirt was longer on Cécile) and Kerry looks so happy and confident whereas Cécile seemed to be feeling slightly uneasy. Definite win for Kerry! But who’s your winner?

At the LA Premiere of RocknRolla in October 2008, Thandie Newton wore a beautiful silvery strapless tulle mini dress from Marchesa’s Spring 2009 collection looking absolutely outstanding. The English actress completed her look with a silver Chanel clutch, black pointy heels and sultry smokey eyes.
Yesterday at the Launch of Topshop/Topman Dinner in New York, model and designer Georgina Chapman flaunted the same modified tulle dress as Thandie which she wore under a black sequinned Marchesa Fall 2008 jacket. Georgina accessorized with a silver necklace, a black clutch and black square-toe pumps.
This is a tough decision. Both women look flawless and carry the dress well. I love it on both of them, but I like the dress slightly more on Thandie as I prefer her accessories and the smokey eyes which are a stark contrast against the romantic nature of the dress. A risk that paid off for Thandie. What do you think?
