Believe it or not, but this is how Mariah Carey got dressed up to host MTV’s TRL yesterday. This is so wrong, I don’t even know where to begin.
Wearing peakaboo tops with your bra visible underneath at the age of 20 is a fashion crime, wearing the same peekaboo tops with 37 is a) desperate and b) a fashion scandal! If she wasn’t famous, I bet everyone would mistake Mariah for a skank. The pants? I’m soooooo over acid washed jeans. And what is it with that silly chain peeking out of the jeans’ pocket? That’s so 1995. And the red peep-toe platforms? Well, that’s what I call drag queen-style.
Mariah’s make up & hair however is flawless as usual. Why does she never seem to get it right with her clothes? I guess it’s about time to either kick your stylist or hire one, darling. What a shame! Mariah is such a talented and beautiful woman, but her fashion sense is very questionable to say the least.

British songstress Sophie Ellis-Bextor made quite an appearance at the Dom Perignon Party in London yesterday. She was wearing a beautiful white round neck satin blouse, a black skirt and a pair of gorgeous must-have double-trimmed nude pumps. We really loved her elegant monochrome ensemble, so here’s our budget-friendly take on Sophie’s look. Like it?

Marion Cotillard

Best Actress winner Marion Cotillard blowed me away in this stunning ivory mermaid-esque Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2008 Couture gown. Chopard jewels and Sergio Rossi shoes finished off this beautiful red carpet ensemble.
Though I hoped Cate Blanchett would win the Oscar for Best Actress, after Marion’s acceptance speech I was totally in love with the French actress. She was just wonderful.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway was a vision of red carpet perfection glowing in a fire-red one-shouldered Marchesa Fall 2008 dress and sparkling with Harry Winston jewels.
Love the rose detailed one-shoulder strap. Anne completely cured herself from any previous Oscars fashion disasters. Gotta love it, right?

Penélope Cruz

Penélope Cruz was a feast for the eyes wearing a stunning navy, feather-trimmed Chanel Haute Couture gown. She finished off her look with beautiful Chopard jewelry. I especially fell in love with her ruby and diamond earrings. Lovely!
Penélope’s make-up & hair is simply fantastic this year, I love it & definitely prefer this look compared to the one she sported last year at the Oscars.

Katherine Heigl

WOW! Katherine Heigl deserves an award for the most daring color here. She stunned everyone in an asymmetrical racy red silk georgette Escada column gown. She topped off her look with matching red lipstick, Ryan Ryan jewelry, a silver clutch & shoes (both Jimmy Choo).
Loving the old school glamour make-up & hair!

Jennifer Garner

I really loved Jennifer Garner‘s amazing black silk taffetta Oscar de La Renta fishtail dress and the Van Cleef & Arpels vintage necklace just knocked me off my socks. Clutch by Roger Vivier.
I also loved Jennifer’s messy updo… but only from the side. If you see it from the front the streaks hide too much of her face.

Lindsay Lohan

Wild Child Lindsay Lohan in Fendi Spring 2008. She should’ve worn the jacket.
Rose McGowan

Actress Rose McGowan was also wearing something from the Fendi Spring 2008 collection.

From left to right:
Some say monochrome is one of the hottest trends for 2008, but I say: monochrome is hot EVERY season and it will never ever go out of style. Sure, it might not be the most daring trend, but it’s a classic for a reason.
To all the hardcore fashionistas out there, add white ruffle socks and a black satin top hat to give the look the icing on the cake. But remember: You gotta be brave and confident to rock these accessoires.

How do you like it? Tell us.
